Last year, my friend Theresa convinced me to take a wine and food pairing class with her and a couple of her friends. It was a huge amount of fun, and by the end, we were all pretty friendly. We decided we should continue the tradition, and so we now meet about a month to try new foods and wines we think we will go with them. Previously, we hadn’t had any sort of organization, but we’ve recently decided we should have a “theme” for each night.

The most recent hostess decided that we should have Asian food as our theme, partially because it’s a difficult pairing, and partially because she’s Korean and wanted to share shopping and cooking with us. [62] Broccoli & Tofu in Spicy Peanut Sauce

I could swear we’ve made more recipes from this book than the blog indicates, but I can’t think of what they are. Which is unfortunate, as it means I’m daydreaming cooking and recipes. Still, I suppose one could have worse daydreams than of cooking out of a generally good vegetarian cookbook.

This recipe, unsurprisingly, is the result of me poking around and trying to figure out how to best use up some CSA produce. We got broccoli for several weeks, without me having a good use for it, until we were suddenly overrun with broccoli. At that point, I didn’t want to just steam it up as a side, I wanted to make it the star of the show.
