Sometimes, the Post Just Doesn’t Come

And sometimes, it’s not the right one when it does come.

Today’s been a bit of an odd day for me. The cold around me has finally eased a bit, which means I don’t feel quite as miserable at home1. The last two days have seen me huddled up under blankets in between attempts to get anything done. I actually managed, amazingly, to get my whole to-do list completed Monday, but yesterday was a bust. I was just too cold to do much. I did get half a post written, though. Today, I had no to-do list, but I finished that post. And pretty much immediately realized it’s a post for Monday, not for today. And it will probably need to be revised between now and Monday.

I started another post for today. It just came out utterly snarky, almost to the point of nasty. I don’t mind some good snark, and the beginning was solidly that, but it’s got to have significant value to it if it’s going to be worth posting. This felt like the value was decreasing with every word I wrote. I’ll set it aside and try to get it up later. Maybe Friday. Or maybe it’s doomed to be sent to the dustbin of this blog.

At this point, I’m not sure what to say, but I don’t want to leave the blog empty today. I’m trying to have, and keep, a commitment to post Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And I think that means posting something even when the posts keep being all wrong. So today you get this post. I think the rules of the internet, at least according to my friend Invader Xan, indicate I’m supposed to supply you with a cat photograph at this time. Alas, I do not have one. Instead I will give you this picture I found on my laptop of a teddy bear in a shoe.

Bear. Shoe. One is in the other. What more do you need?????

fn1. Something is clearly wrong with either our thermostat or our furnace. I suppose it could be both, but I’m suspecting the thermostat. I hope Bill and I pick one up tomorrow to test the theory.

  1. I know this feeling all too well. I hate putting out blog posts that sound so “generic” (which seems to happen often lately.) I’m way too passionate about subjects for my blog to come across as “laissez faire.” When the proper thoughts don’t move correctly from the brain to the hands? I hate that.

    But…it happens.

    And, it’s okay. 🙂

    • It does, and I think it’s actually kind of helpful for more of us to admit it! That way we feel less like the freak who can’t do it, and any newbie to the realm realizes it happens to everyone.

      And, it’s okay. 😀
